Approach to Mediation

Whether a dispute resolves or not is often dependent on whether the parties have truly understood the perspective of the other parties, the strengths and weaknesses of their own position; and have closely examined not only all possible settlement options, but also the possible outcomes and consequences if there is no resolution. My aim is to assist the parties to explore these considerations and then to make informed decisions about their dispute.

I typically adopt the NMAS facilitation approach, but can adapt it as required depending on the nature of a particular mediation.

My primary focus, given my background, is on disputes arising in a general commercial context or involving professional indemnity or general insurance type claims; wills and estates disputes; and workplace and employment issues.  I will consider mediating disputes arising from other areas as well - if I consider I can add value.
